Become a Trained Health Care Interpreter and/or Translator

PALS for Health is looking for Professional Medical Interpreters and Translators in the following languages: ​
  • Arabic
  • Armenian
  • Chinese - Cantonese and Mandarin
  • Farsi
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Khmer
  • Russian
  • Spanish
  • Tagalog
  • Thai
  • Vietnamese

Job Qualifications:  
All applicants must successfully pass a proficiency test and complete the PALS for Health's 40 hour interpreter training (Interpreters only) / 8 -hour written translation training (Translators Only).  

- Fluency in both spoken and written language is required in English and the target language.
- 3 unpaid externship is required for all interpreters.
- Per Diem – no health benefits. 
- Consultants are called as needed and should be able to commit to a minimum of 10 hours a week availability. Consultants must be willing to drive throughout Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.  Consultants must have own transportation and provide proof of car insurance.  

Minimal/Desired qualifications:
Minimum  2 to 5 years previous experience 
Previous specialized  training(s)
CCHI or NBCMI certification if applicable  (for Interpreters only)
ACA or comparable certification(for Translators only)
Foreign study or degrees in specified language is acceptable 
A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of formal training. 
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and target language.
Professional attitude and great customer service skills.
Must be valid to work in the U.S.
