PALS for Health interpreters are recruited from the communities that we serve. Our pool of interpreters consists of well-respected community leaders from different professional backgrounds that span various disciplines, including the health and social service arena.
All of PALS for Health’s interpreters must undergo an in-house 2.5-hour comprehensive assessment of their written and oral bilingual proficiency, and knowledge of medical terminologies. Those who pass with 80% or higher, will be screened for interpreter’s readiness and aptitude.
As a strong supporter of continuing education and to ensure that our interpreters have the most up-to-date information on health care interpreting and health topics, all PALS for Health’s interpreters are required to attend interpreter Continuing Education Courses on a regular basis.
